Wedding Portrait Professionals International 2010
We attended the 2010 WPPI (Wedding Portrait Professionals International) convention at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This is the second year in a row we have attended the convention and I assure you it won’t be our last.
WPPI has the two things we love the most about life…Photography, and Vegas baby!
WPPI has hundreds of quality keynote speakers throughout the week and a trade show takes up two giant rooms. You’re able to touch, feel and test the latest cameras and technologies. This convention provides essential tools, tips and tricks of the trade to help every photographer in every genre. Not to mention they display thousands of award winning photography to inspire the most accomplished of photographers.
It’s easy to spend the whole day at this convention but after 12 hours or so, you have to remember that you’re in Vegas! And you’re going to want to blow off a little steam and have some well deserved fun. We’re not big gamblers so we spend our time exploring restaurants and pubs.
If beer is your grog, we recommend the Bavarian beer hall the Hofbrauhaus (which is located across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel). They have authentic German fare and 3 German beers by the liter (and by the pint if you can’t consume that much beer). A Bavarian band will play classic songs such as Sweet Caroline and Ziggy Zoggi Ziggy Zoggy Oui Oui Oui.
We also found a cool place at the Mandalay Bay casino called the Burger Bar. They have outstanding selection of burgers and hundreds of beers.
We can not leave Las Vegas without visiting the Pepper Mill for breakfast. It’s been in tons of movies including Casino. Don’t even open the menu…order the Eggs Benedict! If you go to the Pepper Mill, don’t forget to unwind and relax in the neon“Fireside Lounge” and sit by the fire pit and watch classic rock videos.
We always leave the WPPI convention feeling inspired and excited to go into the New Year with new ideas and techniques. We strive to be creative and original and work to get better each and every day.

Thanks for the Vegas beer recommendations! It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been there and we’re putting together a trip in the next couple of months.
